PM visits flood-hit areas of KP, assures full support

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif visited the flood-affected areas of Swat, Buner, Shangla and Swabi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday.

He was accompanied by Field Marshal Asim Munir and federal ministers.

The Prime Minister and the Field Marshal were briefed on the ongoing rescue and relief operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Shehbaz Sharif met the affected families and assured them of full support. He said the federal government and the Pakistan Army stand with the victims and will provide all possible assistance.

The Prime Minister praised the tireless efforts of the armed forces and civil administration, stressing that all national resources should be utilised to accelerate the rehabilitation process.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also drew attention towards the illegal encroachments, timber mafia and mining / crushing activities, especially in waterways which contribute greatly towards loss of lives and damages.

Field Marshal Asim Munir lauded the selfless services of the soldiers and directed the formations to leave no stone unturned in easing the difficulties of the flood victims.

He emphasised that protecting citizens and providing relief should remain the top priority.

The Prime Minister and participants also offered prayers for those who lost their lives.
