ACC meeting decides to keep politics out of cricket

DHAKA: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) met in Dhaka, Bangladesh under the chair of ACC President Mohsin Naqvi. India participated in the ACC meeting virtually, with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajiv Shukla representing Indian cricket.

Speaking to media after the meeting, ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the meeting discussed issues related to promoting cricket. “It was agreed not to bring politics into the middle of the organisation in the ACC meeting.”

He also informed that talks are being held with BCCI regarding the Asia Cup schedule, saying that “Hopefully the issue of the Asia Cup schedule will be resolved soon”.

“When we work as a team, we will achieve success. Hopefully we will give good news to the fans soon,” ACC President Naqvi said, adding that the Asia Cup matter is between ACC and BCCI.

The quorum of the ACC annual meeting was completed yesterday. Reportedly, 24 participants from member countries participated in the meeting.
