‘Imran Khan’s sons to remain safe until they violate law’

by WebDesk

Rana Sanaullah, a special assistant to the prime minister, on Thursday said the two sons of Imran Khan would “remain safe” until they take law into their own hands.

A person taking part in politics or launching a movement would also have to face the consequences, he told Asma Shirazi in “Faisla Aap Ka”—a ”prime-time talk show of HUM News.

In this connection, Rana Sana, who is known for spontaneous remarks and sarcasm, he remarked that being arrested is a precondition in the politics of Pakistan.

One may recall that the special assistant to the prime minister is a one of the closest aides of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. For this very reason, he was arrested on the charges of drug trafficking during the Imran-led PTI government. The crime carries capital punishment.

WHO OPPOSED DYNASTIC POLITICS

Meanwhile, Rana Sana reminded the audience that it was the PTI founder, not the PML-N leadership, who used to oppose dynastic politics.

His argument is solid given the fact that Imran’s politics and promises have always revolved around ending political dynasties – Bhuttos and Sharifs – who, he claim, are most corrupt in Pakistan.

But Rana Sana said that taking part in politics or joining a political movement was a right of Sulaiman and Qasim – the sons of Imran, who live with their maternal Goldsmith family in London.

Previously, the senior PML-N leader had said that the PTI founder’s sons could be arrested if they joined protest movement in Pakistan.

Questioning their intentions, he said they hold British citizenship and were unfamiliar with Pakistan’s political dynamics.

WHY SULAIMAN AND QASIM IN THE NEWS

The controversy began when Aleema Khan – the sister of the incarcerated PTI founder – told reporters on Tuesday that Imran intended to lead a protest movement from jail against the 26th Amendment.

She didn’t stop there as she claimed that Sulaiman and Qasim would also join the campaign after returning from the United States.

Since then, the issue is a hot topic, at least on social media, where some of the diehard PTI supporters are excited about the prospects.

AN UNNECESSARY REBUTTAL

Recent days have also witnessed another claim and the resultant rebuttals, after a journalist claimed that efforts were underway to remove President Asif Ali Zardari from the office.

As the PPP leaders came forward to deny the report, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday said, “We are fully aware of who is behind the malicious campaign targeting President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Army Staff.”

He even went on to talk about the role of “hostile foreign agencies” in spreading this propaganda.

Talking about the issue, Rana Sana described the rebuttal unnecessary and said it was enough to list the “news” as a rumour.

According to the PML-N leader, he doesn’t think that any foreign agency or elements are involved in the episode. There is no pressure on the PPP which doesn’t any desire to join the federal government.

One thing is clear that only these allies and this system will sustain, he remarked.
