ISLAMABAD: Fire erupts in Chak Shahzad plaza

by WebDesk

ISLAMABAD: A fire broke out in a IT Park plaza located in Chak Shahzad on Friday afternoon, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

The fire has been contained and no loss of life has been reported in the incident.

Initial reports suggest that the blaze occurred in the storage unit of the building and was caused by a short circuit.

The building contained containers filled with garbage, which fuelled the flames.

Under CDA fire safety rules, all commercial buildings must have fire alarms, extinguishers, and clearly marked emergency exits. Owners are required to maintain equipment, train staff, conduct fire drills, and coordinate with local authorities. Penalties for violating these rules include heavy fines and even license cancellation.

However, compliance remains low, leading to frequent incidents causing major damage to property and loss of lives.
