One injured in Jaffar Express explosion, another killed in metro bus crash

QUETTA: An explosion occurred on railway track near Sultankot, injuring one person aboard Jaffar Express train, according to the Divisional Transportation Officer (DTO) Railway.

Three bogies of Jaffar Express derailed due to explosion. The train that came under attack was going from Peshawar to Quetta.

DTO Railway said that relief activities are ongoing.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of explosion on railway track near Sultankot. He has also issued orders for a complete investigation into the explosion.

The chief minister was given a briefing on the derailment of three bogies of the train, along with the other impacts recorded on Railway traffic due to the explosion. Departure of other trains has also been suspended.

As per details, routes and schedules of other trains have also been altered, due to the damage to the track. Sukkur Express from Karachi to Jacobabad has been stopped from going to Jacobabad, Railway officials said, adding that it will be stopped at the Sukkur Railway station.

Sukkur Express, which usually runs from Jacobabad, will now depart from Sukkur station as well. The headquarters have also been informed to cancel the Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar.

ISLAMABAD METRO BUS ACCIDENT

Meanwhile, a citizen died after being hit by metro bus near Parade Ground station, police sources said.

As per initial investigation reports, the said citizen had jumped onto the metro track by jumping over fence. Kohsar Police is continuing investigation into the incident.
