Pakistan Railways fares to rise from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Due to the recent surge in fuel prices, Pakistan Railways has announced a hike in fares for all express, saloon, and shuttle trains, effective from tomorrow (Friday).

The decision follows a substantial increase in petrol and diesel prices earlier this month.

As per the Ministry of Finance, the price of high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs10.39 per litre, while petrol is now Rs8.36 more expensive.

With this increase, diesel now costs Rs 272.98 per litre, and petrol stands at Rs 266.79 per litre.

According to an official notification from Pakistan Railways, the revised fares will apply to all passenger and mail/express trains operating nationwide. Passengers will have to pay the new rates starting Thursday.

The fare adjustment comes after the federal government, on July 1, approved a fuel price hike for the next 15 days, acting on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the Ministry of Energy.
