ISLAMABAD: President Asif Zardari has decided the seniority of the judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the light of the recent Supreme Court verdict.
The President declared Justice Sarfaraz Dogar the senior-most judge of the IHC. He also declared the transfer of Justice Sarfaraz Dogar and two other judges permanent.
The Supreme Court recently sent the matter of determining the seniority of High Court judges to the President. The verdict also upheld the constitutionality of judicial transfers and ruled that judges do not need to take fresh oaths after their transfer.
After the President’s decision, the Law Ministry has also issued a notification of the seniority of the judges. The President issued the seniority list of the judges of the IHC after the determination as per the apex court’s verdict.
The notification also says that Justice Sarfaraz Dogar is the most senior judge of the Islamabad High Court. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani is second-most senior and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb is third in seniority, the notification added.
